Why is it so cold?

Welcome back (officially)! I hope everyone’s first week has been as exciting as mine has been. I have been receiving phone calls from jobs, buying books, joining the Hudsonian staff, and catching up with some old friends. I’ve realized since I have been home from Disney, although I love snow and skiing, I miss the 60 degree weather and waking up to sunshine every morning. Freezing rain, snow, icy roads, traffic disasters everywhere… I can appreciate Florida weather now being back home in the middle of January with cold and wet shoes.

This week I wanted to mention a few things, first being that since my blog, I have gone on an interview and received a phone call back for another separate interview on Friday. I have been reviewing and re-reviewing my resume all week and I think with some online help along with the Career Center’s helpful guidelines, I have managed to make a resume that reflects my work experience and my achievements very nicely.

The second thing I wanted to mention, is my new involvement with the school newspaper, The Hudsonian. I have joined as a staff writer and will be writing a few articles for next week’s paper! The Hudsonian has a great group of people and they are extremely welcoming. The Hudsonian is always looking for staff writers, so if anyone’s interested just stop by The Hudsonian office on the second floor of the campus center or check out a meeting at 2 pm on Mondays.

The last thing I wanted to add this week has to do with my Literature into Film course. This course is a nice change to a normal English class. The class has students read selected novels and then watch how they were translated into the big screen. This class has given me time to read novels, and I’m so grateful for that. I just finished “The Color Purple” for the class and have started “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” for free reading. “The Color Purple” was an amazing story, if you get the chance to read it, I highly recommend it. I’ll let everyone know how “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” is when I get done.

Enjoy the rest of the week and check me out in The Hudsonian!

That sounds like an interesting class! I have read some great books that became terrible movies, some great books that they have done a halfway decent job of turning into a movie, and in one case (Forrest Gump) a great movie that came from a book that I just didn’t enjoy.
60 degrees sounds heavenly right about now!
Hope you have a great semester!
